As long as I can remember, I have always loved books.
I didn't actually read much as a kid, but I did love the feel of being surrounded by books.
There is something oddly satisfying about a shelf filled with books and what it represents.
Learning, exploration, creativity, art.
And visually, order. Clean, repeated lines of varying heights and a mix of color and texture.
In college I developed a habit of studying on the floor among the stacks, which I maintain to this day.
Bookstores and libraries are my go to comfort/focus/flow space.
My love for reading developed later in life, out of desire to learn more about things I didn't know. That turned out to be quite the rabbit hole, because there is always more to know!
I usually read 3-4 books at time on varying subjects. I especially enjoy cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, eastern philosophy, research on states of consciousness, and books on business and leadership.
The handful of titles below have influenced my present philosophy on work and life.
